Let’s Paint, Hamilton

 Are you interested in painting outdoors, in and around the city of Hamilton? This is a course for you. This is for the beginner to intermediate painter , who wants to push their work to the next level. Visit a series of locations in and around the city of Hamilton,ON, with Brian McPhee (13brokenhorses.com), an artist with over 40 years experience  painting landscapes in Canada, the U.S. and Scotland.

Participants will be shown a very direct and simple way to capture a desired landscape image. Working in watercolour, gouache or acrylic (no oil based mediums), you will be given direction and guidance on composition, value and colour elements within your image.

All work will be completed on site, and will be followed with a group critique.

A list of painting supplies (brushes, colours, palette…etc) will be given after registration, and participants can decide to use them or bring their own selection. As well, landscape painting necessities (umbrella, stool…) will be suggested.

Participants must have access to a vehicle to get from one location to another.

The course will run for 4 consecutive Saturdays in July (6,13,20,27) 2024

Classes will run from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm

Cost: $300.00 per person  (minimum of 5 students for class to run) .

Payment made by E-transfer

Participants will learn basic ways to work from rough sketch up to a finished painting in 4 hours. All work will be done on location.

You will visit the grounds of historic Dundurn Castle, Hamilton Steam & Electric Museum, beautiful Gage Park for inspiration.
